Signs That It Is Time To Repair Or Replace Your Siding
What are signs to look for so you know when your siding needs to be replaced or repaired?
- A big sign that you may need
new siding is a sign of dry rot. Dry rot weakens the siding because it is
a fungal timber decay that occurs in poorly ventilated conditions in
buildings which results in cracking and powdering of the wood.
- If you are tired of
staining and would like to change your siding to something that requires
less maintenance.
- If your siding is
extremely faded it could be weak and reached its life expectancy.
- Blistering or bubbling
spots could mean siding needs replacing.
- Believe it or not your
energy bill becoming higher than normal can be an indicator your siding is
past its time. Siding helps retain heat and old or damaged siding does not
insulate well.
- Your siding could be
letting moisture into your home and create problems inside. A sign that
your siding is not keeping moisture out could be peeling wall paper or
even peeling paint on your walls.
- The paint on your house
should last at least 8 to 10 years. If you are painting every 5 years, there could be something wrong with your siding.
- If your siding is warped
or bulging and no longer lies flat there could be damage under the siding.
We recommend you call a professional siding company to be sure the job is
done right and lasts longer!
